Call 1-1-2 if you require:
- Emergency assistance from healthcare professionals, police or fire services
- Immediate assistance for acute, life-threatening illness or injury
When you call 1-1-2:
Step 1: The emergency control room operated by the Police or the Greater Copenhagen Fire Department receives your call.
The operator will evaluate your request and asses which emergency service you require: fire, police or medical assistance The operator will request details about the incident and where to find you. Calls concerning medical emergencies or accidents will be forwarded to the Capital Region's Emergency Operations Centre (AMK).
Step 2: Your call is transferred to the Capital Region's Emergency Operations Centre.
The AMK Emergency Operations Centre answers 1-1-2 calls around the clock. A qualified healthcare professional – either a nurse or a paramedic – will assess the situation and the patient's condition throughout your conversation.
If possible, the healthcare professional will ask to speak to the patient directly. This will help them determine the appropriate emergency response and priority. During the conversation you will also be asked to confirm the location of the patient.
Based on their assessment, the healthcare professional will decide whether to send an ambulance or an emergency doctor.
Step 3: Assistance and guidance
The healthcare professional will together with a dispatcher ensure that appropriate response is sent to the patient.
The healthcare professional may determine that an ambulance is unnecessary. In this case, they will provide guidance on what you should do.
We prioritise ambulances
The Emergency Operations Centre constantly prioritises the deployment of ambulances. Priority is given to the most critical cases, which may delay other urgent responses.
If the patient's condition deteriorates before the ambulance arrives, dial 1-1-2 again.
